In breaking news, the half-sister of star Drew Barrymore was found dead in National City, California, on Tuesday. Jessica Barrymore was found inside her car at 6 a.m. after Marta Lopez found the vehicle blocking her driveway.
Lopez told KGTV ABC10 that she spoke to the 47-year-old woman. “You need help, you need help.” Jessica was unresponsive, but a SoBe energy drink and “dozens of white pills” were found beside her. National City police are currently stating that the cause of death is unknown.

Witness Oscar Sandoval told the local news, “Her car was parked right here last night around midnight. I thought she was sleeping or waiting for someone.” Firefighters responded to the 911 call that was placed by Lopez in the morning and found Jessica dead upon their arrival.
Drew and Jessica share the same father, John Drew Barrymore. The 39-year-old actress was not close to her half-sibling, but she did release a statement to Us Weekly regarding her death.
She said, “Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible and I’m so incredibly sorry for their loss.”
The actress was raised by her mother, Jaid Barrymore, after her parents divorced in 1984 when Drew was 9 years old. She was one of five children born to her actor father.
Jessica did not go into the family acting business. She was an employee at her local Petco animal supply store.

Her coworker Dawn Scott described her friend. “Jessica was always a helpful person. If we had any problems she would help us work things out. She would always put people first… She was one awesome, helpful person and she’s someone we’re all going to miss.”
