Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley were great friends for a while, but now the Ukrainian dancer explains why the two pals are no longer on speaking terms.
During and after a great partnership on Dancing With the Stars, Chmerkovskiy and Alley were the best of friends. However, Alley has now cut all ties with the hunky 34-year-old, and he has hinted it’s all because of Jennifer Lopez, People magazine reported.

New rumors recently revealed that Chmerkovskiy might be dating Lopez, and Alley is none too pleased about it because the singer is best pals with Leah Remini. Alley famously made some negative remarks about Remini recently, calling her a “bigot” after she left the Church of Scientology, of which the Cheers star is a devout member.
Chmerkovskiy said Alley thinks he’s hanging with the wrong crowd, and she won’t talk to him anymore because of it.
“She stopped getting along with me,” he said while on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live. “We had a great relationship… But I got a message now that I am associating with other people that she can’t be associated with, I am no longer to be spoken with, and sorry, but it is what it is.”

The DWTS Season 18 Mirror Ball champ added that he’s somewhat confused over why Alley took this stance, and said he has no hard feelings toward her.
“I think the world of her,” Chmerkovskiy went on. “I’m not judging people by their religion. I’m Jewish. I don’t really believe in science fiction, but whatever.” He added that he still “thinks the world of her,” and after so much they’ve been through together he seemed sad it had to end like this. However, he does still “wish her all the best.”
