Michael Strahan still “can’t believe” Hall of Fame honor

Michael Strahan spent 15 years in the NFL and he has restarted his career as both the co-host of Live! with Kelly and Michael and as an NFL commentator. But after all that, one of his biggest moments is yet to come.

On Saturday, Aug. 2, Strahan will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and he still has a hard time believing it is real.

“It’s one of those things where I was like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe it,'” Strahan told People. “It was actually very amazing and very scary at the same time.”

As part of the honor, Strahan will be giving a speech at the ceremony, but said he is not stressing about what he is going to say. He explained, “I want to kind of go up there and be free and not worry about giving the speech of a lifetime. I think a lot of guys sit and write and write and write because everyone tries to outdo the other with the speeches. I don’t care for that. I just want to make sure I thank the right people, make sure we all have a good time.”

Strahan, a former New York Giant, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame along with Andre Reed, a former Buffalo Bill. Because of this, the Buffalo Bills and the New York Giants will be kicking off the 2014 pre-season by playing the 51st Hall of Fame game Sunday in Canton, Ohio.

Strahan admits he is nervous to be accepting the honor, but said that is a normal thing for him.

“I get nervous before FOX NFL Sunday, I get nervous before Live!, I get nervous before GMA. I get nervous before I brush my teeth,” Strahan said. “Everybody gets a little nervous. I’m no different than anyone else. I think the key is to shake that nervousness and turn it into production.”
