At just 17 years of age, Lorde has taken the current world by storm through her music. Now, thanks to the producers of the The Hunger Games franchise, she will be taking the future world by storm, too, as she takes on the large role of picking the entire soundtrack for the newest installment of the series.

The teen made the big announcement on her Twitter page today after building up the suspense for her followers yesterday. “Something exciting is about to happen,” she teased on Wednesday.

Then, on Thursday, she followed up with the huge news. “I am so pleased and proud to have been announced the sole curator of the soundtrack for MOCKINGJAY — PART 1,” she tweeted. “Building this piece by piece has been amazing. i can’t wait to share the other artists’ contributions with you.”

The “Royals” singer may be in charge of selecting all of the tracks that will become the heartbeat of the movie, but that doesn’t mean she won’t be contributing new music herself. “Oh, and @iamjoellittle and i wrote the first single already. so be ready,” she revealed.

Lorde also lent her voice to the The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack. The young songstress recorded a cover of the 1985 hit, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” by Tears for Fears for the movie. Other musicians who participated in the soundtrack include Coldplay, The National, Christina Aguilera and Of Monsters and Men.
The New Zealand native’s career has certainly exploded over the past year. Along with hit songs, multiple award nominations and wins, and performing at the Grammys, Lorde also signed a publishing deal with Songs Music Publishing worth up to $2.5 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.
