Vin Diesel opens up about Paul Walker’s death

Vin Diesel talked about losing his longtime co-star Paul Walker on Live! With Kelly and Michael on Friday morning.

The actor initially seemed hesitant to go there with the hosts, but he ended up opening up and revealing his struggle to move on from the death of his friend and co-star.

“It’s a heavy thing, Michael. You know?” Diesel said when the host asked the actor about filming Fast & Furious 7 without Walker. Diesel and Walker had starred in all but one of the seven Fast & Furious movies together.

Walker, 40, was killed in a car crash in November. Walker’s friend Roger Rodas was behind the wheel when the Porsche hit a light pole North of Los Angeles, California. Both men were killed.

Walker died during production of Fast & Furious 7. After his passing, Walker’s two brothers agreed to help stand in for the actor during scenes for the remainder of the feature. The movie is set to be released in April.

“I grew up in the bouncer world, and we lost people while we were bouncing,” Diesel explained. “But the brotherhood in Paul Walker was something completely different. It was someone that we — we grew up in the business together, and we became famous together, and we represented the biggest franchise together, and he was my partner, and it’s a strange thing to — I’ve been acting all my life, and they don’t teach you in acting, how to mourn someone and simultaneously pretend they’re in a scene with you.”
