The character of Tarzan was first created by Edgar Rice Burroughs, appearing in the novel Tarzan of the Apes, which was first published in a magazine in 1912, then as a book in 1914. Readers loved the tale of the human child who was raised by apes so much that the story of Tarzan has been adapted into stage plays, numerous movies and TV shows and even video games. Over 100 years later, Tarzan is still going strong.

Now, the digitally animated film Tarzan that stars the athletic Kellan Lutz as the king of the jungle is available on DVD and Blu-ray. Check out our exclusive clip where the Legend of Hercules star talks us through how the digital animation and motion-capture technology works.
“We have around 56 cameras so you are always on. It’s like theater, and the great thing about it is that they read every millimeter of your body and then they can really take your performance and zoom out, like a helicopter or crane shot, or push in. It’s just really cool.”

Lutz also describes what’s happening in a scene where Tarzan sneaks into Jane Porter’s (Spencer Locke) lodging.
“He goes into her tent while Jane is away and starts playing around with some human objects. Of course, he finds a bra. He investigates it, not sure what it is, then realizes it would make a great slingshot for an apple.”
Kids from all walks of life relate to Tarzan mostly because of his strong curiosity and carefree lifestyle. Getting to swing through the jungle on vines and hang out with wild animals is something all kids dream about.
