Almost every little girl grows up wanting to become a Disney princess, and for Keke Palmer, that dream has just become a reality.
The talented star has nabbed the title role in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, and she’ll be transformed into a princess for eight shows a week starting on Sept. 9 at the Broadway Theatre.

The company prides themselves on casting the people that are best for the role. “We’ve always just cast the best people for the parts. Sometimes they’re African-American, sometimes they’re Latino, sometimes Asian-American,” producer Robyn Goodman said. “It’s wonderful when it works out and we’ve finally found our Cinderella.”
The beauty has also become the first African-American to play the part, taking the reins from Cindy Paige Faure, and Palmer couldn’t be happier about the role.

“It’s honestly one of those things that I can’t believe is really happening,” Palmer said by phone on Friday, ABC News reports. “I’m very excited. Very excited and nervous as well — a bunch of feelings all at once.”
One thing is certain, Palmer is a mixed bag of talent and is able to sing, as seen on her albums, which include the 2007 CD So Uncool and a self-titled 2012 EP, not to mention the fact that she impressed with a Michael Jackson cover in the Dolly Parton/Queen Latifah flick Joyful Noise.

And she can also act, having starred in True Jackson, VP, Barbershop 2: Back in Business,The Trip to Bountiful and even Masters of Sex.
And we aren’t the only ones who think she’ll excel at the role. “She acts beautifully, she dances, she sings — she’s an amazing young woman,” Goodman said. “I think she’s going to be just so lovely.”
