Blake Lively responds to Martha Stewart: I want my own path

After Martha Stewart made comments about how stupid it was for Blake Lively to “want to be” like her and go into the lifestyle business, the Gossip Girl actress has responded.

Stewart explained to the Huffington Post how she thinks it makes no sense for Lively to want to start a blog about recipes and fashion when she is already a successful actress.

“I mean, it’s stupid, she could be an actress! Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress?” Stewart said. “I just did a movie yesterday, though — I can’t even tell you about it — but I want to be Blake Lively.”

Lively went on the defense, weighing in on Stewart’s comments and explaining her desire and reasons for wanting to expand on her domestic and lifestyle aspirations.

“I want to have my own path professionally and even as she said, I’m an actress,” Lively told E! News. “I’m doing something totally different so now I sort of have two careers going on and it’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out. But really what it is, is I have two passions. And I think ultimately, I will always be doing both, but one is going to be paying the bills better than the other.”

Lively added that she’s always been around the homemaking life and it was something she’s loved since she was little, so starting her Preserve blog just felt natural to the Savages star. Additionally, she has no hard feelings towards Stewart and actually said the domestic guru has been a staple in her life for years.

“Who doesn’t want to be Martha Stewart?” Lively said. “Martha Stewart has been a huge inspiration to me my entire life. She’s a huge source of inspiration for my mom. She’s how I came to know and love Martha.”

Incidentally, Lively and Stewart turned into quick friends after they became neighbors in the Connecticut neighborhood they both share with their respective families.
