Greg Oden is feeling the heat right now and it isn’t the Miami team he played for last season that has him going.

Oden was arrested yesterday morning in Lawrence, Indiana, for apparently punching his ex-girlfriend in the face.

The NBA free agent was “calm, apologetic and cooperative” when officers arrived at Oden’s mother’s house where the incident occurred, according to police.

Police said they found the victim crying and lying across a bed holding her face when they arrived at the residence. A woman, who police said was the victim’s best friend, recounted the events to the police.

“He punched her in the face,” the witness said, according to the police report.

According to the police report in an article from NBC Sports, Oden was quoted saying, “Things got out of control and I started to go after the victim.” Apparently, the victim’s best friend and Oden’s mother tried to hold Oden back from getting violent, but he swung his arms in an attempt to break free and punched the victim.

The victim had injuries that consisted of “blood, swelling to the nose, lacerations to the forehead and nose area.” The police also said they “observed blood on the sofa and floor in the sitting area.” There was more blood found on the living room carpet and dirt was discovered from a knocked-over flowerpot.

WTHR-TV reporter Matt McCutcheon shared the following mug shot of Oden on Twitter.

Oden played last season for the Miami Heat. He is 7 feet tall and weighs in at 273 pounds, which means a punch from this guy means business. No word yet on the condition of the victim following the dispute.

“I was wrong, and I know what has to happen,” Oden reportedly told police.
