Josh Hutcherson is mourning the loss of The Hunger Games role

The Hunger Games was the biggest moment of the careers of many who were involved in it — including Josh Hutcherson. The three-book franchise, which was split into four films, still has two release dates in theaters, but has finally completed filming.

For Hutcherson, the world of TheHunger Games is over and he finds himself wishing it wasn’t.

“I miss it so much,” he told People at the Teen Choice Awards. “It pains me every day a little bit when I wake up, that we’re not filming anymore.”

The final two films, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Parts 1 and 2, were filmed over 10 months — a long time in movie world — but Hutcherson said, even after all that time, the cast didn’t want it to end.

“It was really tiring, but we were so sad to see it end,” he explained.

Hutcherson won the award for Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi/Fantasy at the Teen Choice Awards, was just invited to join the Academy and likely has a long career ahead of him. Besides the Hunger Games films, the actor will be seen next in Paradise Lost, along with Benicio del Toro.

But, for now, Hutcherson is mourning the loss of his Hunger Games family, who celebrated the end of filming with a small wrap party.

“It was honestly hard to say it was a celebration because we were all so sad that it was coming to an end,” Hutcherson added. “It was so great to see everyone there letting loose, but it was more sad. I don’t want to be melancholy, but we weren’t ready for it to be finished yet.”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 will be out Nov. 21, 2014, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 will be out Nov. 20, 2015.
