Don’t hold your breath if you’re expecting Rita Ora to perform her hit single “I Will Never Let You Down” anytime soon on U.S. television. In a new interview with Ryan Seacrest, the British pop star blamed her ex-boyfriend and the song’s collaborator Calvin Harris as the culprit behind her Teen Choice Awards performance cancellation.

“For anybody who doesn’t understand how it works, he wrote and produced the song… so he has to approve anything TV-wise for anybody who doesn’t get it,” she explained. “And obviously he owns the rights to it and he didn’t approve the Teen Choice Awards.”
Even though it appears that Ora wasn’t all that surprised because of the move, the singer says that it would have been nice if she had been informed weeks before instead of at the last minute. “It was a last-minute change, but you know what, it happens and we move on and move forward,” she added.

As for why there’s bitterness between the former couple, Rita suggested that Seacrest should direct that question toward Calvin. “I can’t speak for him, but I’m not like that. It is what it is, man. You know, you write a song with somebody, and I guess there’s some stuff that comes with it.”
Calvin seemed a little upset about Ora’s candid conversations as he took to Twitter hours after the interview spread among the blogosphere with some not-so-subtle messages.
