Justin Bieber is a lucky guy today. He is avoiding a drunk-driving charge stemming from his arrest in Miami on Jan. 23.
He was arrested after reportedly street racing in a Lamborghini against a Ferrari driven by R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff.

According to TMZ, Bieber was allowed to plead guilty to two lesser charges: careless driving and resisting an officer without violence. The penalty isn’t too bad for the “Boyfriend” singer; he will have to attend a 12-hour anger management course and donate $50,000 to charity in addition to paying court-ordered fines.
One crucial point in the case was avoiding probation. TMZ sources said Roy Black, Bieber’s lawyer, was concerned the musician would wind up in jail if he had another violation.
The prosecutor seemed happy to accept the plea deal because the Miami Beach case was weakening. There were allegations that cops lied about Bieber drag racing and drinking that night. The cops’ report has several glaring issues that Bieber’s lawyers were happy to point out. He had an alcohol level of 0.02, but he tested positive for marijuana and Xanax after a urine test.

The court hearing is scheduled for today in Miami. He is not expected to attend the hearing.
Bieber will be spending a lot of time in anger-management classes for the rest of 2014, since he also has to complete a course in the egging case. In July, he took a plea deal, which gives him two years of probation, five days of labor and requires him to pay restitution charges of $80,900 to his neighbor.
Will the singer ever learn his lesson? Only time will tell if we see Bieber behind bars.
