Soft-spoken actor, Michael Cera, is certainly a man of mystery.

Cera has pulled off a feat that is nothing short of miraculous in this day and age: He kept a secret. The actor recently recorded an entire album of folk/rock music and released it five days ago on bandcamp.com, a website whose tagline is “discover amazing new music and directly support the artists who make it.”
Now that the word is out, Cera fans all over the world are flocking to the site to check out heavily instrumental tracks that are punctuated by Cera’s trademark whispery voice on the album, titled truethat. Cera’s sense of humor also shines through on the page: His bio reads, “Michael Cera was born in Canada in 1988 at the tender age of zero.”
Academy Award-nominated actor, Jonah Hill, Cera’s co-star and partner in crime in the coming-of-age comedy, Superbad, is a self-proclaimed fan of the album and is helping promote the music on social media. “My great friend Michael Cera not only is a brilliant actor, but he also makes great music,” Hill tweeted yesterday.

Cera’s latest artistic venture serves as an illustration that the Arrested Development star is a man of many talents: recording artist, movie star, TV actor and producer. Cera, who openly admits that he’s often mistaken for Jesse Eisenberg, also launched a YouTube comedy channel called Jash last year with Sarah Silverman, which currently has close to 1.2 million subscribers. “Yeah, is doing work for the internet a step down for me? Yes!” Cera jokes in the intro video for Jash.
Although true that is Cera’s first solo album, he previously recorded backing vocals and guitar for Weezer’s album, Hurley, and has played live bass for indie-rock group, Mister Heavenly, according to Rolling Stone magazine.
