Parenthood sometimes slows down celebrities, but parenthood sometimes results in a Ciara. I’m talking about a hardcore hustle to get back in shape, back to music and simply back to work. SheKnows spoke with the R&B princess just a day after her reported split from fiancé Future hit the blogosphere, and it appears as if CiCi isn’t going to let anything stop her from doing what she wants to do.
“I just want to be the best that I can be. I want to be one of the best, to be quite honest,” the R&B siren candidly admits about her professional drive. “With the new life element that’s happened to me with my son, I’m even more centered on my goals. I’ve got to get out there and be a very strong representation for him as a mom. I want him to look at me and say, ‘I’m proud of my mom.'”

Ciara is currently working on the follow-up to last summer’s self-titled LP with super-producer Dr. Luke (Britney Spears, Katy Perry). With her new baby on board and reports that she’s dumped Future because of his cheating ways, the singer says that this new era of her life will definitely be reflected in her upcoming music.
“I can’t help but to be inspired by where life takes you,” she says. “It’s so fun, too, because I’m discovering a whole new thing as a mom and I definitely will express that good energy in my music.”
While she didn’t spill too many details about what’s next for the sixth studio album, she’s having a lot of fun with Dr. Luke, who she says really gets her vision. Ciara worked with the pop mastermind for a track on 2009’s Fantasy Ride called “Tell Me What Your Name Is,” but she says her collaboration with him this time is way different. “We haven’t worked together in the capacity that we’re working now,” she said.
Ciara isn’t just focused on creating more music. She’s getting in tip-top shape so that she can deliver even more body parties onstage. It’s a goal that certainly goes in line with her latest partnership with Degree Woman and their DO:MORE campaign, which challenges people to work hard and push boundaries. The singer tells SheKnows that the goal to return to her pre-pregnancy body has been “one of the best challenges” she’s come to tackle. Considering she became a mom for the first time to 3-month-old Future Zahir Wilburn, the goal to get her rock-hard abs back has been met with an increased demand from her trainer Gunnar Peterson. “It’s definitely, ‘Do more,’ times three,” she added with a laugh.
If that wasn’t enough, Ciara also just filmed a segment for MTV’s resurrected House of Style. For her taping, she says that she and her team — including hair virtuoso Cesar Ramirez — filmed a trip down memory lane featuring all eras of her onstage fashion. “It’s really fun to us go through some of the pieces together… I get re-inspired looking at things we’ve done so far,” Ciara said.
