Fans have not taken kindly to Justin Timberlake‘s recent Twitter post and the singer managed to spark mass Twitter outrage over the weekend.
So, what did JT do that was so bad? He allegedly sent the queen of pop, Madonna, a birthday tweet for her 56th birthday on Aug. 16, calling her his “mother chucking ninja.” Twitter users did not take kindly to this term, which many believe is the alternative phrase to saying “mother f***ing N-word.”

Because of the backlash, the “Not A Bad Thing” singer has since deleted his tweet, which, according to Us Weekly, read, “A happiest of Bdays to my mother chucking ninja, @Madonna!! Hope you have a great one, M!”
Apparently several very unhappy followers said that the actor/singer’s phrase was unfortunate timing because of the current situation in Ferguson, Missouri, over the weekend, which stems from the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

“Justin Timberlake chose *this* week to call Madonna ‘my ninja’? I just can’t,” one Twitter follower wrote.
Another tweeted, “I knew Justin Timberlake was getting too close for comfort with black culture but now he is saying ninja.”
One day later, Timberlake took to Twitter again to retweet a message from Matt Morris about the events in Ferguson, which read, “The world is watching #Ferguson. [And we pray.]”

While Timberlake’s tweet was probably meant with the best of intentions, this is perhaps a warning to other celebrities to think before they tweet or else outrage will ensue.
