The son of action superstar actor Jackie Chan has been detained in Beijing on drug-related charges.

Jaycee Chan is the latest high-profile name to be detained in China during what CBS News calls the biggest anti-drug crackdown in the country in two decades.
Beijing police said in a statement Monday night that Chan was detained last Thursday with Taiwanese movie star Kai Ko. Both tested positive for marijuana and admitted using the drug, and 100 grams were also taken from Chan’s home.
The drug crackdown in China began in June with a declaration from President Xi Jinping that illegal drugs should be wiped out and offenders severely punished. Also according to CBS News, police said more than 7,800 people have been caught in Beijing alone so far.

China has maintained harsher drug laws than the U.S. in past decades, but the recent bust was spurred by an increase in use thanks to recently relaxed social controls and increased wealth in the country.
China has been openly targeting celebrities as they have a large fan base and are more likely to influence young audiences. Other celebrities arrested in the drug bust include film star Zhang Mo and singer Li Daimo.
In a statement on the M’Stones International website, Jaycee Chan’s management company, they apologized to the public for the “social impact” caused and said they would “supervise his rehabilitation and help him return to the right path.”

Chan is accused of accommodating drug users. If he is found guilty, he could serve up to three years in prison, according to CBS News.
Ko, who was arrested with Chan, tearfully apologized to his fans and family. “I feel very regretful, very sorry to all the people who support me.” Ko went on to say he’d been a bad example and made a “very big mistake.”
Jackie Chan has yet to comment on his son’s arrest.
