Ed Sheeran says he has no beef with Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus made it clear at the VMAs on Sunday that she is not an Ed Sheeran fan, but Sheeran says he has no issues with the songstress and he thinks she’s a great artist.

When Sheeran was making his way up to the stage to accept his award for Best Male Video for the song, “Sing,” Cyrus refused to applaud or high five her fellow musician and it even appears in footage that Cyrus mouthed the word “asshole” as Sheeran walked by her. But Sheeran insists there is not bad blood between the two and he has nothing but love for Cyrus.

“Well, I don’t know why people were expecting that [high five]. I’ve never met her,” Sheeran said to Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday morning via Us Weekly. “There was a high five between me and Scooter [Braun] because I know him and that was the only high five. I don’t know what people were expecting.”

If Sheeran did feel dissed by Cyrus, he’s certainly taking the high road. “I think she’s a fantastic artist,” Sheeran said of the “We Can’t Stop” singer. “I think she’s got a great voice, writes great songs.”

It’s been speculated that Cyrus’ iciness stems from comments made by Sheeran back in January regarding her infamous dance moves. “Twerking is what strippers do. It’s a fact. If you go to a strip club, not that I go to strip clubs, but if you go to a strip club, they twerk,” Sheeran said in an interview with E! News. “You shouldn’t be encouraging little kids to twerk. Stop doing this, Miley Cyrus. Please. Stop. Stop. Sing ‘Wrecking Ball.”Wrecking Ball’ is a great song,” he added.

Being that Cyrus brought a homeless man as her date to the VMAs to start a conversation about national homelessness and Sheeran recently honored a dying fan’s final wish, it’s clear that both of them are talented artists and have great hearts. It would be awesome to see these two come together as friends.
