The world has been wondering about the state of Beyoncé’s relationship with her sister, as well as her marriage, all summer, but her dad claims that all of the drama is an elaborate inside plot to sell more records and concert tickets.
Mathew Knowles slapped with new paternity suit >>
Mathew Knowles says that Beyoncé and Jay Z created and perpetuated all of the divorce speculation to gain publicity for their On The Run tour and even went so far as to stage the infamous Solange/Jay Z brawl at an after-party for the Met Gala in May as they were about to embark on their musical journey.
“[They needed something to] ignite the tour. It’s called a Jedi mind trick,” Knowles said on the Roula and Ryan Show on 104.1 KRBE in Houston via Entertainment Tonight. “A Jedi mind trick fools you a lot of times. All I know is that everyone is talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange’s album sales went up 200 percent.” Knowles also claimed during the radio appearance that he himself used the “Jedi mind trick” tactic while he was managing both Destiny’s Child and Beyoncé’s career.
It’s true that Beyoncé and Jay Z have been playing with the public’s minds as of late. One minute, Beyoncé is altering her song lyrics on the stage to make everyone think Jay Z is cheating on her, and the next, the couple is sharing a tender moment at the podium at the 2014 VMAs.
And while Knowles’ publicity stunt allegations make total sense, it’s also true that his bond with both Solange and Beyoncé has not been exactly rock solid over the past two years. The relationship between the two sisters and their father became strained after a paternity scandal in 2010, which resulted in Mathew’s wife and Solange and Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, filing for divorce after a 31-year marriage. Both Solange and Beyoncé were no-shows at Mathew’s re-marriage earlier this year. It’s possible that Knowles is speaking from speculation and not facts that came from Beyonce, Jay Z or Solange’s mouths.
