Chelsea Clinton is ready to take on the biggest role of her life, so she’s stepping down from one of her gigs to make room in her busy schedule. On Friday, the mom-to-be announced the big news on her Facebook page.
She wrote, “When I joined the NBC family in 2011, I had long respected NBC’s commitment to telling the stories of ‘ordinary people doing extraordinary things.’ I loved watching the ‘Making a Difference’ stories about remarkable people and organizations making a profound difference in our country and our world. I am grateful NBC gave me the opportunity to continue this important legacy.”

Since the pregnant Clinton is due later this year, she “decided to leave [her] position as an NBC Special Correspondent.” Besides bringing up baby with her husband Marc Mezvinsky, she also wants “to continue focusing on [her] work at the Clinton Foundation.”
She announced her pregnancy in April at the Girls: A No Ceilings Conversation event that took place in New York City. Chelsea and Marc have been married for four years.
In her post, she also cited some of her favorite stories for the network, including the Homework Diner, which provides meals and academic assistance to kids and families in need, and the Downtown Boxing Gym in Detroit, which offers educational and boxing instruction to get kids off the streets.

Chelsea even praises her NBC colleague Brian Williams, who mentored her.
She wrote, “It’s been a privilege to be part of the NBC Family. I admire the work and dedication that their reporters, producers, crews, editors and studio teams deliver every day, particularly as I personally experienced through the stewardship of Brian Williams at Nightly News and Rock Center.”
It sounds like the Stanford grad is keeping the door open to a future return. She summed up, “While my role with NBC News may be coming to an end, I look forward to working with the NBC family well into the future.”
