CeeLo Green narrowly avoided a more serious charge earlier this year but pleaded no contest to a drug charge on Friday. But for an alleged rape and drugging of a woman, how fair is his sentence?

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, Green pleaded no contest to one felony count of furnishing ecstasy to a female back in 2012. According to E! News, the former Voice coach entered the plea because he was allowed to maintain his innocence in the case.
Green was also charged with rape in the 2013 case, but that charge was rejected by the prosecutor due to insufficient evidence. Both cases come from an incident back in 2012 where Green “allegedly slipped ecstasy to a 33-year-old female while the two were dining at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant,” the prosecutor had said in a statement at the time. “The two later went back to the woman’s hotel” and she said she woke up, naked, next to Green.
The woman later also taped the singer in conversation, and he allegedly apologized. But even with the serious charges, Green avoided jail time in this case — he was sentenced by a superior court judge to three years of probation and 360 hours of community service. He is also required to attend 52 AA/NA meetings.
A rep for Green released a statement on Friday continuing to not apologize in the case, despite everything the woman has been through.
“CeeLo Green is pleased that the District Attorney’s office would allow him the opportunity to resolve this appropriately and maintain his innocence,” Green’s rep said. “He is happy to put this behind him and continue to move forward.”

Green has yet to comment on his plea on Friday, but he was busy posting away on social media. The singer seemed to be focusing on anything but the charge — including wishing Michael Jackson a happy birthday.
