He’s already created a show about nothing, so how about a show about himself? Larry David is doing exactly that as he makes his Broadway debut as an actor and a writer in a play about himself.
His comedy, Fish in the Dark, will begin previews on Feb. 2, 2015, with opening night scheduled on March 5, 2015. Joining him onstage will be Jerry Adler, Rosie Perez and Jake Cannavale, son of Tony nominee, Bobby Cannavale.

David described the play to the New York Times in early August. He explained that the show is about a death in the family and revolves around 15 characters. His character is “somebody very similar to Larry David — it might even be Larry David with a different name.”
The Broadway neophyte is a veteran when it comes to playing a version of himself. He did so for eight seasons on the HBO show, Curb Your Enthusiasm. His turn on the Great White Way is a bit nerve-racking, though.
“I’ll be without anything that I’ve become used to. I haven’t been in a play since the eighth grade, when I did Charley’s Aunt. I seem to remember wearing a dress. That’s it. And I’m not even really an actor. But I’m still sleeping at night, and I hope that continues,” he said.

His intention was always to write a play, but David never expected to be starring in the show.
The Seinfeld creator laughed, “I had been prepared to just go to some rehearsals as the writer, watch quietly, say a few words, then go to a few performances and pace around the back of the theater, give some notes, pace some more. But now this. Something has gone awry.”
The show will be directed by Anna D. Shapiro, who won the 2008 Tony Award for August: Osage County, and it will be produced by Scott Rudin.
