Kate Upton’s boyfriend Justin Verlander addresses photo hack

Justin Verlander is breaking his silence (sort of) on the recent nude photo hack, which includes images of him and his model girlfriend, Kate Upton.

Despite the revealing and personal photos, Verlander still plans to keep his personal life out of the spotlight as much as possible.

James Franco claims nude selfies are “what the people want” >>

“I keep my personal life personal,” the baseball pitcher said on Tuesday before his game against the Cleveland Indians, according to the Daily Mail. “The focus for me is on the Detroit Tigers. I don’t want to take any focus away from this team and what we’re trying to accomplish. We’re in the middle of a pennant race. We’re trying to win a pennant and all of my focus currently is on doing whatever I can to help our team win our division.”

While Upton has also not personally addressed the scandal, her attorney has commented on her behalf. “This is obviously an outrageous violation of our client Kate Upton’s privacy. We intend to pursue anyone disseminating or duplicating these illegally obtained images to the fullest extent possible.”

Kate Upton says she won’t pose nude because of the internet >>

Upton and Verlander were among the approximately 100 celebrities who had intimate photos released without their permission. The breach represents the largest celebrity photo hack in history. The others affected include Jennifer Lawrence, Krysten Ritter, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rihanna, Brie Larson and Kirsten Dunst. Photos of Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice were also part of the hack, but the girls spoke out to say their photos, at least, were faked.

The FBI is investigating the incident. Many sites have begun to remove the photos upon threat of legal action and criminal punishment.

No doubt, the past couple days haven’t been easy for Verlander, but he said he manages to ignore the outside influences. At least, for now. “This is my life. Baseball’s my life. You’re able to focus on that especially when you’re on the mound doing what I’ve done my whole life.”

Verlander and Upton first met in early 2012 on the set of an MLB 2K12 video game commercial. The two have remained very hush-hush about their romance. In fact, Upton has gone as far as denying the two are actually dating, despite being seen together multiple times since they met.
