The Partridge Family star David Cassidy pleads guilty to DWI

David Cassidy‘s life has been filled with drama over the last few years, and in court on Wednesday he admitted to driving while intoxicated.

The ’70s heartthrob was charged last summer in the town of Schodack, near Albany, New York, and tests showed that he was well over the legal limit with his blood alcohol level at 0.10. The legal limit is .08, TMZ reports.

The Partridge Family actor pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated in upstate New York on Sept. 3. His plea deal reduces his DWI charge to a misdemeanor.

According to TMZ, under the terms of the deal Cassidy has to complete 50 hours of community service and have an ignition interlock installed on his car for a year. Cassidy was previously ordered to participate in an alcohol treatment program, which he has already completed, but in November the judge will decide if he needs further treatment.

The Times Union reported Cassidy was on the verge of tears during his court appearance, telling the judge, “Your honor, I came here today hoping to get this taken care of and over with.

Outside court he then addressed the crowd, saying, “I’m not pleased how this turned out tonight, but at least I’m not going to prison.

“Is this an election year? I don’t mean any disrespect. I love this part of New York and have been coming here for years to the track. I admit I was driving drunk, but this was my first offense in New York state; I didn’t hurt anyone or crash my car,” he added.
