Chris Brown has made some mistakes in his past, but it looks like he may finally be wanting to take responsibility for them. Brown appears on the cover of Billboard magazine — a well-timed article considering there was a shooting at a party reportedly hosted by him the night before the MTV Video Music Awards.

Suge Knight, the former CEO of Death Row Records, was shot during that party. Although Brown seems to be apologizing for his life, he also seems to be blaming the powers that be for everything that happens to him.
“I realize that what I do for a living opens my life to public scrutiny and that I have a responsibility to everyone because of that exposure,” Brown told Billboard, according to E! News.
Brown also admitted that maybe he was “out of the control” — likely in relation to his continuing legal troubles that first stemmed from him beating his then-girlfriend, Rihanna.
“I can say that I am only human and I have made mistakes,” he explained. “I can say that I try to live my life in the most true, honest way that I can. I am not perfect, no one is. No one is harder on me than me. No one can please everyone. No one can live in the past and expect to grow. I have been moving forward and hope that I am not defined by just a few moments in my life but all of the moments that will make up my life.”

Rihanna hasn’t yet commented on Brown’s statements, but Suge Knight seemed to not only forgive Brown, but also the person or people who shot him. He told TMZ soon after being shot, “Even if I [did know], I don’t think that’s really important, who pulled the trigger and who I seen pulled the trigger, I think that I’m doing extremely well, I’m happy to be doing well and whatever happens, happens.”
No arrests have been made in the shooting.
