While no due date has been announced at this time, it is expected that the Duchess is not yet past the 12-week mark. A Kensington Palace spokeswoman said the Duchess’ attendance at future events would be decided on a “case by case” basis, Hello! magazine reports.
The Duchess is due to represent the queen at the 50th anniversary of Malta’s independence in two weeks’ time.
“We will be planning this on a case by case basis — it’s too early to talk about Malta and Invictus,” the spokeswoman said.
British Prime Minister David Cameron is also delighted with the news and took to Twitter to congratulate the royal couple.
The new baby will become fourth in line to the throne after Prince George. Prince Harry is now fifth in line for the title.
Congratulations to the happy couple on their exciting news!
