Prince Harry wants William to suffer with a daughter

It’s royal baby mania all over again as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced today they are expecting their second child, and Prince Harry says he wants a little princess in Kensington Palace.

At the opening of the Invictus Games, Harry said he is delighted with the news he will be an uncle again and hopes the new baby is a girl — if only to see his brother “suffer.”

“I can’t wait to see my brother suffer more,” he said, adding, “I would love to see him try and cope with that,” if a sister rather than a brother were to join Prince George.

He continued, “I hope the two of them have the opportunity to go through the process again with a little bit of peace and quiet… I think George will be over the moon. I think he will be thrilled having another small younger brother or sister.”

Regardless, Harry said, it is “very exciting news” — and surely he and the second child will have plenty to bond over, both being spare heirs and all.

Prince William was out and about at an appearance in Oxford at which Kate was meant to join him — but her extreme nausea prevented her from doing so.

“She’s feeling OK. It’s been a tricky few days — week or so — but obviously we’re basically thrilled, it’s great news, and early days,” he told the crowd. “We’re hoping things settle down and she feels a bit better.”

The couple’s happy announcement once again came much earlier than they had hoped, but Kate’s health woes necessitated the release of the news sooner rather than later — especially because her trip to Malta, meant to be her first solo overseas appearance, is now in jeopardy.

A senior royal source told the Daily Mail, “The couple only found out very recently. The Duchess has not even reached the crucial 12-week stage. But when it became apparent that she was not well enough to join the Duke on a joint engagement in Oxford today and that the number of forthcoming engagements could be affected, the Duke and Duchess have taken the difficult decision to be fully open about the pregnancy.”

A palace spokesperson said, “There are a number of forthcoming engagements so we took the decision to be fully open about it at this point. One is the forthcoming visit to Malta and a decision on that will be taken closer to the time.”

Kate suffered hyperemesis gravidarum with her first pregnancy, which became severe enough to be hospitalized. She is currently being looked after at home by the royal OB/GYN Alan Farthing.
