Taylor Swift‘s personal life is forever making headlines, but I’m not complaining, because I’m just a little bit obsessed with her relationship drama and for good reasons.
Swift’s dating life has become a national pastime and people are constantly wondering who her next big hit will be written about, which man broke her heart and why she fell for the wrong guy… again. But the real reason why Swift’s love life is so interesting is because we can all, in some way, relate to it.

Swifty is the voice for those of us who have been scorned. You’ve been cheated on? So has she. You got dumped for another girl? So did she. You thought that this time it was going to be true love? So did she. The only difference between the rest of us and Swift is that she knows how to eloquently put her drama into writing and she’s made millions from it. It’s basically my dream job: getting paid for dissing my ex!
However, it looks as though the country singer won’t be involved in a new relationship anytime soon.
Swift revealed to Rolling Stone magazine that she has not been in a relationship since she and One Direction heartthrob, Harry Styles, broke up, but why?
“I don’t have the energy to be in love,” she confessed. “Like, [I] have not gone on a date. People are going to feel sorry for me when you write that. But it’s true.
“I don’t like seeing slide shows of guys I’ve apparently dated. I don’t like giving comedians the opportunity to make jokes about me at awards shows. I don’t like it when headlines read ‘Careful, Bro, She’ll Write a Song About You,’ because it trivializes my work. And most of all, I don’t like how all these factors add up to build the pressure so high in a new relationship that it gets snuffed out before it even has a chance to start. And so,” she says, “I just don’t date.”

We get that Swift doesn’t want her work to be trivialized by her relationships, but here’s where she’s wrong: Her relationships may be the talk of the town, but that’s because a lot of her work is based on her relationships, and who ever said that was a bad thing? Swift has the ability to empower people going through heartache because they find solace in her lyrics.
What’s more is that she’s beautiful, she’s famous and she’s super talented and her love drama in some way normalizes her. Swift doesn’t seem like this massive Hollywood star: She seems approachable, she seems like a regular down-to-earth girl and part of this is because of the fact that she isn’t so high and mighty that her heart can never be broken.

Despite the fact that Swift may be done with the dating drama and the constant media coverage of it, for now, the best part about her love life is the fact that she genuinely believes in love. No matter how many times her heart has been broken, Swift remains a hopeless romantic who believes that “the one” is still out there somewhere.
I’d say that in this day and age, when love can be so hard to come by, that’s pretty inspirational.
