RHONJ‘s Teresa and Joe Giudice prep for prison

Teresa and Joe Giudice are preparing for the worst as their prison-sentencing date looms ahead. The Real Housewives of New Jersey couple is putting their luxury home on the market as they both look ahead to possible jail time.

The reality-show stars pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiracy, mortgage and bankruptcy fraud back in March. The duo decided to take responsibility for their actions due to the potential impact long prison sentences were going to have on their four young daughters.

Miles Feinstein, Joe’s attorney, told reporters after their plea that he was certain his client will face some prison time as he was taking on the burden of the blame. According to NJ.com, the federal guidelines recommend 37 to 46 months for the charges.

“Joe… acknowledged what he had done, and he did this to help his wife in the best possible way because… she has received the most favorable plea agreement that she in fact could get,” Feinstein said. “So he showed his love for his family, he acknowledged responsibility — despite the potential consequences.”

Teresa, who reportedly played a smaller role in the fraud, is hoping for probation. Sentencing guidelines recommend that the mom of four receive 27 months of prison time.

No matter what happens at their sentencing on Oct. 2, the family needs to downsize their lavish lifestyle. The six-bedroom, six-bath custom-built home is listed at $3.999 million. The house features double spiral staircases, a gourmet kitchen and three walk-in closets in the master bedroom alone.

Season 6 of the long-running franchise is currently covering the Giudices’ legal issues and the plea deal was shown on the Sept. 7 episode of the cable show.
