Robin Thicke claims that he was high on prescription drugs when he wrote his hit song “Blurred Lines.”
While sitting for his deposition in the case against him, which claims he ripped off Marvin Gaye’s song “Got to Give It Up,” Thicke used the excuse that he was high on Vicodin when he wrote the hit song, TMZ reported.

Gaye’s family lawyer asked Thicke if he was there when Pharrell created “Blurred Lines” and the singer responded he was not really involved in the creative process. “I was high on Vicodin and alcohol when I showed up at the studio.”
Not only that, but Thicke also compromised Pharrell in the case by telling the judge that the “Happy” star was the one who came up with “the beat and he wrote almost every single part of the song.”

But, as TMZ noted, Thicke contradicted himself big-time when he told GQ magazine something totally different. “Pharrell and I were in the studio and I told him that one of my favorite songs of all time was Marvin Gaye’s ‘Got to Give It Up.’ I was like, ‘Damn, we should make something like that, something with that groove.'”
Of course, Thicke was very quick to defend that statement when the lawyer brought it up, using the dreaded drug excuse again. “With all due respect, I was high and drunk every time I did an interview last year.”

The controversial crooner went on to say that, “Every day, I woke up, I would take a Vicodin to start the day and then I would fill up a water bottle with vodka and drink it during my interviews.” Thicke, however, insists that he’s now drug-free because being left by his wife gave him “good reason to sober up.”
Wonder if he used the Vicodin and vodka excuse when he tried to explain to his wife, Paula Patton, why his hand was famously up another woman’s behind at an after-party.
