Sharon Osbourne trashes U2’s Apple promotion

Sharon Osbourne has made her living off music, and her opinions on what is good and what isn’t always seem to come out. This time, her opinion is directed at U2.

Why general outrage over the new U2 album leaves me disappointed in humanity >>

The band is already embroiled in a slight controversy right now, because Apple downloaded their new album to every iPhone — without telling anyone. The idea backfired so badly that Apple set up a how-to page on how to delete the album off your Apple product. It looks like even rich people have an opinion on the idea.

During Apple’s new iPhone announcement, an announcement was also made about U2’s new album, Songs of Innocence. Osbourne was the manager for her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, and she still works with artists in the industry. Although she has always seemed to appreciate a good music promotion, for some reason, she was not happy with this one.

“Whose political ass are we going to pull you out of today? Or are you front row at another tragic fashion show?” she continued. “Jimmy Iovine, iTunes, U2, you’re a bunch of megalomaniacs. F*** YOU!”

The deal reportedly cost Apple $100 million. But Osbourne may have undone at least some of those promotional efforts by tweeting a link to the instructions to uninstall the album.
