Will Ferrell slips Zoolander 2 secrets

Will Ferrell has confirmed he will appear in the long-awaited Zoolander 2.

During an interview with joblo.com, Ferrell admitted that not only will his character Mugatu be returning for the sequel, but the production will be moving forward shortly.

“We are actually supposed to do a read-through of a sequel script soon, and Mugatu is a part of it,” Ferrell said.

Fans can rest assured that things are finally heating up for the Zoolander sequel. The film has, admittedly, had quite a few false starts in the past. Production was delayed in December. Ben Stiller said it was on hold because they were still working on the script, which they wanted to ensure was right, according to joblo.com.

Will Ferrell is a comedic genius >>

“There’s a script we like, but I don’t want to force it, because people who love that movie really love it, so I want to make sure we do the sequel the right way,” Stiller explained. “Mike Myers did it well with the Austin Powers movies — they were all funny, and very of their time. And Zoolander is of its time, too, so it’s about how we could bring it up to date, to the present day.”

Rumored casting decisions have also been floating around as well as the filming start date. Jonah Hill has been linked to the movie along with supermodel Cara Delevingne. Neither has confirmed their involvement yet.

Stiller and Owen Wilson are, of course, set to reprise their roles as helpless models in the comedy. Justin Theroux, Jennifer Aniston‘s fiancé and star of The Leftovers on HBO, is set to direct the sequel. Theroux previously worked with Stiller on Tropic Thunder.

As of now, there’s still no word on an expected release date for Zoolander 2.
