New Girl‘s lead character has had her fair share of love interests over the past few seasons. Will her latest love last?
Jess (Zooey Deschanel) hasn’t always had the best of luck when it comes to romance, but you have to admire a girl who keeps on trying. It’s not easy to find Mr. Right, but maybe Jess is in for some luck this November when a new guy comes into her life.

According to TVLine, actor Michael Stahl-David will guest-star on the Fox comedy starting this fall. So far Stahl-David is only set to appear in one episode (which doesn’t bode well for the relationship), but you never know in TV. Perhaps the two characters will hit it off.
Stahl-David’s character is described as a “handsome and normal” guy that Jess will date in hopes that he won’t run screaming in the other direction when he finds out her unusual living situation. You know that situation: she’s living with her ex-boyfriend.

Suddenly, we’re starting to understand why this guy might only be around for one episode. Most people probably wouldn’t appreciate knowing that their girlfriend was going home every night to spend time with her ex. But we hope that the two do try to make things work, if only because we are always rooting for Jess to find true love and be happy.

Whether his character sticks around or not, Stahl-David will be joining a long list of great guest stars that have appeared on New Girl. Dermot Mulroney (who also made it onto our list of ’90s heartthrobs to cameo on Friends) had a run as another one of Jess’ exes, Russell “the Fancyman.” Then there was Damon Wayans, whose guest-starring role last season turned into a series regular role in Season 4. Teen Wolf hottie Dylan O’Brien also got to woo Jess on the show, in a kid’s playhouse no less. And who can forget Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner as Jess’ parents in the famous Thanksgiving episode?
New Girl airs on Tuesday nights at 9/8c on Fox.
