Pretty Little Liars is replacing its traditional Halloween special with a Christmas episode this year to shake things up. As if we didn’t already have the shakes after the creepy Season 5 summer finale.

When we last saw the show, Mona (Janel Parrish) was brutally murdered and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) was arrested for Bethany Young’s murder. We can’t really imagine this Christmas episode is going to be very jolly. And though the video clip hints at a winter wonderland, we’re going to guess A will be on hand to make it more frosty than anyone would like.

But it seems that as long as Ezra is buying Aria (Lucy Hale) pretty earrings and dresses, the liars don’t need that “Ali decoder ring.”

In all fairness, it doesn’t look like the show will be glossing over Mona’s death in the slightest. If anything, the Christmas episode will only shed more light on her downfall since only the audience, besides A, has seen her body as of now. Executive producer, I. Marlene King, took to Instagram to post a photo that has us thinking that may be changing very soon, though.

“For those who have been asking for clues. #PLLChristmas,” King captioned the photo.
We’re going to guess that coffin is for Mona and that, perhaps, her body has been discovered. Though the casket is open, it’s facing away from camera. We’re going to go ahead and say that A wouldn’t just give up Mona’s body without a good reason behind it. Perhaps s/he is trying to frame one of the liars for her death?

Don’t worry if you’re a fan of the Halloween episode. Fan appreciation episodes will still air on Tuesday, Oct. 21 during ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween. It will feature all of your favorite cast members who will be answering questions about the series.
The Pretty Little Liars Christmas episode will air during ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas starting Dec. 1.
