Chris Brown porked out in prison

We may have heard it all before, but it looks as though Chris Brown is really trying to turn over a new leaf and become a better man.

5 Times Chris Brown has said he’s sorry but acted otherwise >>

During a recent interview with Extra’s Mario Lopez, Brown recalled his time in jail and how the experience left him with a changed outlook on his life, and a bigger trouser size.

After three months in a Los Angeles jail cell the “Turn Up the Music” singer says that “it was definitely one of the things I’ll never forget.

“For me, I just learned that nobody’s invincible, everybody’s equal, [and] at the same time no amount of celebrity status, no amount of how many fans love you, no amount of anything can deter you away from the real if you make a mistake, and nobody’s excusable… I think for me it was a humbling experience for me to become a man and mature,” Brown confessed.

Brown went on to explain how being in jail has helped him come to terms with his issues and understand that he needed to deal with his feelings in a healthy way.

“For me it was more of an opportunity for me to understand my feelings and understand what I was dealing with in my own life… at a time I didn’t know how to put those feelings out there, I didn’t know how to say it, I didn’t know how to express myself without it being anger or aggression because I felt a certain way, but now it’s more of me being able to control it and understand it,” he added.

But jail also restricted Brown from his usual day-to-day activities, such as dancing, and his diet was obviously altered during his time in the can.

“My normal weight is like 180 [and] I was 215 when I got out of jail,” the “Wall to Wall” hit maker admitted. “I couldn’t fit in my jeans, fit in my clothes. I was scared to go out. I was like, ‘Man, people will see me and I look fat,’ so after a while I went and played a lot of basketball, a lot of cardio…[and] I was always dancing, always dancing, trying to get my body back.”

While Brown may have come a long way, his past is not completely behind him and he is still working on bettering himself and controlling his anger issues. We hope that this time around he can truly get his life back on track.
