Who is James D’Arcy going to play in ABC’s new series Agent Carter this season? We’ll give you a hint: He’s connected to the name “Stark.”
OK, OK, we’ll stop teasing. James D’Arcy will play Edwin Jarvis, who just happens to be the butler to Howard Stark. According to Marvel, Jarvis will also be an unexpected ally to Agent Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell). Carter and Jarvis will work with SSR Agent Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) and Agent Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) as she faces her most dangerous mission to date.

Agent Carter is set to air during the winter break for ABC’s other Marvel series, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The new series takes place in 1946 and follows the adventures of Peggy Carter as she goes on secret missions for Stark. She’ll try to balance her heroic lifestyle with trying to deal with being a single woman, a battle that even us mere mortals can understand. It’s a battle made even more complicated by the fact that Peggy just recently lost the love of her life.
With the latest casting news, one has to wonder what kind of “ally” Jarvis will be to Peggy on the TV series. How can we not ask if the two of them might end up in a romance? Would that be too soon after losing her love?

Even if they are just friends, how could it affect both of their relationships with their mutual boss, Stark? The wheels are already turning with possible scenarios and the new series hasn’t even aired yet.
It also makes one speculate on whether or not the AI system that Tony Stark uses in the Avengers films could be connected to the latest character to join the new TV series. Why? Well, because that system happens to be known as “J.A.R.V.I.S.”
