Desperate Housewives actress Polly Bergen died at her Connecticut home on Saturday. She was 84 years old.

According to People, the actress’ publicist Judy Katz revealed that she had died of natural causes and was surrounded by her family and longtime manager at the time of her death.
Bergen enjoyed a successful career that spanned across several decades and included multiple roles in films, TV dramas and stage musicals. In 1953, she made her Broadway debut with Harry Belafonte in the revue John Murray Anderson’s Almanac. She also starred in several popular films including Cape Fear, Kisses for My President and Move Over, Darling.
In her later years, Bergen was loved for her roles as Felicity Huffman’s mother on Desperate Housewives and the mistress of Tony Soprano’s late father on The Sopranos.
Bergen was an Emmy award-winning actress who took home the accolade in 1958 for her portrayal of Helen Morgan on the series Playhouse 90. She also was nominated for another Emmy in 1989 for her role in the miniseries War and Remembrance.

The actress is survived by her three children, Peter Fields, Kathy Lander and Pamela Fields and three grandchildren. Our thoughts are with Bergen’s friends and family during this sad time.
TMZ reports that her rep says donations can be made to Planned Parenthood.
