Finally, an answer! Will Charlie Sheen be returning for Two and a Half Men‘s final season?

Charlie Sheen has made it clear that he wants to return to Two and a Half Men for its final season. The only question is: Does the show want him back?

As is the case with many stories about the former star of the CBS comedy, this one started with a statement from Sheen that turns out to be not so much the truth as perhaps his imagination. In an interview with TV Guide, Sheen said that he was in talks to possibly return to Two and a Half Men.

“I’ve reached out to them and they’ve reached back,” Sheen said in the interview. “We’re trying to figure out what makes the most sense. If they figure it out like I’ve presented it to them and they want to include me in some final send-off, I’m available and I’m showing up early. If not, it’s on them.”

You read a statement like that and it sounds like Sheen’s return to the show is practically in the bag, right?

Not so much.

The Hollywood Reporter decided to ask the people behind the show for confirmation and they came up with some interesting news. Producers at Warner Bros. Television denied the report from TV Guide. So despite the rumors, stirred up by none other than the actor himself, Sheen will not be reprising his role as Charlie Harper on Two and a Half Men.

To that we must say: Hallelujah!

Sheen was famously fired from the show after he went off the deep end with a series of Twitter tirades about tiger blood, and it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down the insanity anytime soon. The most recent stunt found a drunken Sheen wandering through the drive-thru line at Taco Bell.

Needless to say, Two and a Half Men doesn’t need Sheen in their final season. We have no doubt his appearance would be more trouble than it’s worth. Better to just let dead characters lie, as it were.
