Aaron Carter is finally admitting that, despite his best efforts, things with Hilary Duff really are over.

“If I’m too open about how I feel, then people wanna nag and pick and poke at me,” Carter said during an interview with Wenn. “I don’t know Hilary [Duff] either. She don’t know me and I don’t know her. I just need to shut up now about it. I think it’s time…”
A few months ago, the singer made headlines when he professed he still had feelings for his ex, Hilary Duff.
“I don’t know who she is today, she doesn’t know who I am today, but I would sweep her off her feet if I ever got a chance to again and fix what I did wrong,” Carter said in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.

He has also taken to Twitter more than once to confirm his feelings are still there.
Unfortunately, Duff is just not feeling it. Though the starlet is currently uncoupled with her husband, Mike Comrie, the two are dedicated to trying to make their relationship work. They were married in 2010 and have a son together named Luca.
BuzzFeed asked Duff about Carter’s declarations and she admitted she wasn’t expecting the question. “I don’t know how I feel. I mean, that was so long ago, and obviously I’m still married and I have a baby and we kind of just… yeah, don’t know each other. So yeah…”

Carter and Duff broke up in 2003.
We can’t help but wonder if Carter’s emotional confessions are all just a clever publicity stunt since the singer conveniently has a new single called “Ooh Wee” out on Oct. 14. He’s also on his Aaron Cater’s Wonderful World tour right now, which kicked off on Sept. 18.
