For some of the young cast members of the hit show, Modern Family, life just keeps getting a little too real.
Sarah Hyland reveals shocking medical struggle >>
First Ariel Winter, who portrays middle sister, Alex Dunphy, on the show, was caught up in a bitter custody battle and, now, Sarah Hyland, aka Haley Dunphy, has acquired a temporary restraining order and is alleging some serious violence at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, according to TMZ.
Hyland and Matt Prokop split last month after nearly six years together and, now, Hyland is claiming that her former beau has been physically and verbally abusing her for the past four years. Documents obtained by TMZ say that Prokop pinned Hyland to a car by her throat, choking her to the point that she had a “very sore throat following this event.”
“His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak,” Hyland says in the docs. “I was scared and in fear for my life.” She also alleges that Prokop has “relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats.”
Hyland sought the restraining order at the advice of the director of a rehab facility that had been treating Prokop since the couple broke up in August. Prokop, who also appeared as a guest star on one episode of Modern Family as Haley’s potential love interest, was released from the facility on Sept. 21 and the director told Hyland it would be in her best interest to seek legal protection due to Prokop’s mental state.
Julie Bowen, who plays Hyland’s mother on the show, was also reportedly involved as a concerned party. Hyland requested that Bowen be present to help facilitate the split and help “peacefully end the relationship.” Bowen ended up having Hyland leave the scene of the attempted breakup when she deemed it unsafe for Hyland to be around Prokop due to his violent behavior.
