Tyler Perry is going to be a dad

Tyler Perry and his girlfriend of several years are expecting their first child together.

E! News confirmed that Tyler Perry’s longtime girlfriend, Gelila Bekele, is already seven or eight months pregnant with the couple’s first child.

Apparently, Perry hinted at the news during his recent 45th birthday bash. One guest reportedly told E! News that Perry said he wasn’t getting a lot of sleep because “his life was about to change in a big way.” The guest said that Perry coyly added, “Some of you know what I’m talking about.”

Bekele is a model and an activist who is involved with many different organizations, especially Charity: Water. Though she is active on social media, particularly Instagram and Twitter, she hasn’t posted any photos of her midsection that could be potentially revealing in the past six months.

Perry has yet to comment on the pregnancy rumors.

Instead, his comments about his birthday bash focused on Perry’s excitement at the festivities that “brought the house down” and included a star-studded guest list. Attendees included LeAnn Rimes, Stevie Wonder, Jazmine Sullivan and Jennifer Holliday.

“It was a night I’ll never forget,” Perry said on Facebook. “Thanks to all of them [his guests] for making this night special for me.”

Though Perry has yet to confirm the baby rumors, he did speak to Steve Harvey about fatherhood last year. Perry said becoming a dad was one of his remaining life goals.

“I know I would be a great father,” Perry told Harvey. “I don’t want to work this hard, I don’t want to have all of this and not leave it to my children. I also know that, as hard as I’m working — doing 20 hours a day — now is not the time. Right now, I’m enjoying what I’m doing. I’m enjoying the work, I’m enjoying being a bachelor. So, eventually I’ll get there… I’m 43, so two more years. By 45, you know who the hell you are, right? You’ve really settled in at 45 so I think two more years.”

It looks like Perry is right on schedule.

Hiding baby news seems to be the latest trend in Hollywood for couples who are trying to stay out of the spotlight. Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have also very effectively kept their new bundle of joy out of the media since Mendes gave birth on Sept. 12.
