Does starring in a series of Young Adult films qualify you to become a YA author? It turns out the answer may be yes. Twilight‘s Peter Facinelli decided to give it a shot and he is finally ready to release his very first YA novel.
Peter Facinelli found Breaking Dawn script really scary
The novel, After the Red Rain, was written by Facinelli, Hollywood producer, Rob DeFranco, and New York Times best-selling YA writer, Barry Lyga, according to E! News. Just like the most popular YA books, the novel takes place in a dystopian future world “destroyed by environmental disasters and mass poverty.”
Facinelli may be 40 years old, but he knows a thing or two about the genre. He starred as Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the Twilight films, which gave him the confidence to think he could write a Young Adult book.
“I gained a real respect for the YA genre during my time with the Twilight series,” Facinelli told E! News. “I’m excited to offer my own take, and a story I have had the opportunity to co-create.”
Facinelli was also married to another teen star (but not while she was a teen) — he and ex-wife, Jennie Garth, have three children together. His children may be closer in age to his audience, but he seems to know how to write to them.
Jennie Garth: Deep Thoughts from a Hollywood Blonde
After the Red Rain follows a boy named Rose with superhuman powers who learns he may be the only hope for the human race. The book will be released in August 2015.
