Kendra Wilkinson has had one of the roughest years of her life. She gave birth to a baby only weeks before finding out her husband had allegedly had an affair with a transsexual. But for Wilkinson, that wasn’t the hardest part of it all.

“When the news broke, I flipped on Hank and told him to get out of the house,” she told People, but added that she realized she had to think logically because of her life in the limelight. “But then I allowed him to come back and get Little Hank, because we knew there was going to be this s*** storm. I had to calm down and really just think logically and figure out what the right thing to do was.”
Wilkinson said the move was in order to protect their son, Hank IV, but in the end, she ended up trying to protect her husband, as well. She explained, “I was like, you need to take him and just hide out for a while. But what was so hard about it was that I felt I just gave my son away to the man who’d cheated on his family.”
But Wilkinson added that because she had a 5-week-old baby at home at the time, she didn’t feel that she had many options.
“It was so gross to me, but I knew in the back of my mind that he’s a great father, and is the only one who could protect his son,” she said. “If he’d stayed here, he’d have been hounded. If I took him to preschool, to the movies, I would not feel safe. But giving Little Hank to Hank to go to New Mexico was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life.”
But even so, Wilkinson said she knew she needed to live through her pain on her reality show.
“I agreed to shoot the show because being alone at the moment was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life,” Wilkinson added. “The producers came to me, and were hugging and holding me. They asked, ‘Do you want to film this?’ I said, ‘Bring the cameras to me — I can’t be alone right now.’ “

Through the separation, Wilkinson said all she could think about was the day she could be reunited with her son. But even more important to her at the time was to make sure he was protected from the fallout of the scandal.
“I was all alone with Alijah. I wanted my son back, but I didn’t want to do something to hurt Little Hank, like use him as a tug-of-war item. I had to just allow him to think he was just visiting grandma and grandpa. It was the right thing to do.”
