Ricky Martin traded the life of an international pop star for the life of a stay-at-home dad. But right now, it sounds like he wouldn’t trade back for the world.

Martin spoke with radio host Luisa Fernanda on Univision MIX 98.3 recently and talked about his 6-year-old children. He’s working to answer the questions they have begun to ask about where they came from.
Martin’s twins Matteo and Valentino were born in 2008 to a gestational surrogate, and the singer decided to put his career on hiatus for his children. He said they have been asking “difficult question[s],” and Fernanda asked him what was the most difficult question they have ever asked.
“‘Dad, was I in your belly?’ and I told him, ‘you were in my heart and you are still in my heart,'” Martin recounted, according to the Huffington Post. “So I explained further, because I couldn’t just leave it at that: ‘There was a woman that I adore with all my heart that helped me bring you into this world. She lent me her belly so that you could come and when you were born she put you in my arms.’ And he said ‘ah, OK,’ and he kept playing.”
Martin, who split from his boyfriend Carlos Gonzales at the end of 2013, was recently in the news with a rumor he was about to welcome a baby girl. But Martin said, “You have to be careful what you say because they asked me, ‘would you like to have a daddy’s girl?’ and I said ‘of course.’ The next day they said, ‘Ricky is going to be the father of a little girl!'”

But that doesn’t mean Martin isn’t looking forward to having more children in the future, and it sounds like he would be more than happy to have a girl on the way.
“If you ask me if I want to be the father of a little girl, [I’ll say] not one, four!'” Martin said. “I’m just getting started with this fatherhood thing and I’m going for more. I come from a big family and I like noise and chaos in my house.”
