John Cusack has enjoyed a successful Hollywood career, but he’s no fan of the place!
John Cusack’s creepy stalker strikes again
During a recent interview with the Guardian, Cusack compared the glitz and glam of Hollywood to a whorehouse and openly criticized the industry for its views on age and sex.
“I got another 15, 20 years before they say I’m old,” the actor revealed to the publication while promoting his latest film, Maps to the Stars, a story that looks at celebrity culture and how it corrupts those within it.
“For women it’s brutal. Bruce’s thing about if you’re 26, you’re menopausal? It’s only absurd because it’s a little bit further than the truth,” the actor said of Maps to the Stars screenwriter Bruce Wagner’s comments on the value of youth.
The future awaits: Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is coming
“I have actress friends who are being put out to pasture at 29. They just want to open up another can of hot 22. It’s becoming almost like kiddie porn. It’s f***ing weird.”
Cusack gained fame in the mid-’80s after appearing in teen films such as Better Off Dead and Sixteen Candles and he thinks that actors nowadays, both young and old, are having a rough time in showbiz.
“People would look after you when I was a kid. There were good people in the business. When I came to L.A. Rob Reiner said: ‘Come stay at my house.’ He taught me. I worked with Pacino,” Cusack revealed. “Pacino would talk to you and mentor you. Now it’s different. The culture just eats young actors up and spits them out. It’s a hard thing to survive without finding safe harbor.”

Presently, Hollywood is not the place that it used to be, only a distant memory of its former glory, and Cusack is unimpressed by the way that big-budget franchises are dominating the industry.
“You can’t make it up,” says Cusack. “It”s a whorehouse and people go mad.”
