Jessica Chastain is beautiful, talented and successful. But behind the award-winning actress is a woman who is not quite sure who she is.
Is Jessica Chastain going to be on True Detective?
Chastain spoke with Harper’s Bazaar UK about her career and her life and she admitted she doesn’t like the attention her job brings her.
“Probably there are some people who feel great about themselves and don’t second-guess anything they say or do or wear,” she said, according to E! News. “But that’s just not me.”
Like many actors, Chastain enjoys burying herself in her characters and she enjoys her life most when she is busy working. She remembered a moment recently where she was between projects and she didn’t know what to do with herself.
“[It felt] a little bit like grief and I started to feel really negative about myself, down on who I am, and then I realized it’s because I’ve had so much time away from me that I don’t really know what I like to do any more,” she explained. “I’m out of it now, but there was this feeling of being sad or depressed — wanting to go to another project.”

She added, “I don’t know what I’d do if I wasn’t acting. It doesn’t mean I have to be in movies or have success. I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have this form of expression because it offers me a freedom I don’t have in my personal life.”
You can see Chastain next in Interstellar, along with Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, out in November. You may also see an appearance from the award show regular again next year at the Oscars for her role in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby.
