The show may have been renewed, but with this news, it’s clear the show has some big changes in store for the next year. Aside from Milano’s departure, Mistresses is scheduled to begin filming in Vancouver, an ever-growing popular destination for films and television.
But the move means the show is losing its biggest star. Milano took to her website to explain her decision not to return for Season 3. “After two wonderful seasons in Los Angeles, the studio has decided to shoot season three of Mistresses in Vancouver, Canada for financial reasons,” Milano explained. “It’s with a heavy heart that I have decided that I can’t relocate. I have two babies under 4. Being a mother and wife comes first and I just cannot uproot my children and separate the family by moving away.”

Milano is married to CAA talent agent, David Bugliari. The couple tied the knot in 2009. The two have a 3-year-old son, Milo Thomas, and a 4-week-old daughter, Elizabella Dylan.
Mistresses follows the lives of four friends as they navigate love and relationships in Los Angeles. No word yet if the show plans on keeping the Los Angeles location, despite filming in Vancouver, or if the move will be explained at the start of the season.

Though news of Mistresses‘ renewal for Season 2 was up in the air until late in the game, the show returned with a steady viewership for its sophomore season and managed to make the cut for a third. The renewal announcement came just yesterday from ABC.
It’s unclear, as of now, if the show plans on recasting Milano’s character, Savannah “Savi” Davis. Season 2 ended with a pretty big cliffhanger involving her character, after all.
