Did The Voice make the right decision in hiring Taylor Swift?

We’re all about getting as much of Taylor Swift as possible. But will we tune in to catch her at her new job?

NBC confirmed today that Taylor Swift will be joining The Voice to take on the role of adviser during the knockout rounds. She’ll take over the job from Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who did it last year, and she’ll make her debut on Oct. 27, which, coincidentally, happens to be the release date for her new album, 1989. So, not only should you expect to see her on The Voice, but we’re sure there will be plenty of morning show and late-night appearances as well to help promote her album.

For The Voice haters: That means if you want to skip the singing competition but still get in plenty of time with TSwizzle, there will be plenty of opportunity to do so. Of course, we think The Voice is fun. We love watching Blake Shelton and Adam Levine’s love/hate relationship unfold. And it’s exciting to see Gwen Stefani back in action. At the end of the day, it’s still another singing competition where the talent can range anywhere from terrible to brilliant — sometimes over the course of just one song. So, we understand if that’s not your scene, and you don’t have to suffer through it.

But the bigger question might just be: Is Swift really the adviser these people need? Her awards show performances are often shaky — or, as a judge from another singing competition would say, “It’s a little pitchy, dawg.” And, at 25, she’s still just so young. How much could she possibly have to offer? The truth is: A lot. Swift has been doing her thing for nearly a decade now. She’s not only grown up in the spotlight, but she’s also managed to successfully jump genres. That’s kind of a big deal. Not everyone is capable of that, but she’s done it nearly flawlessly. So, actually, our girl Swift might be the absolute best adviser The Voice has offered up.

What do you think? We know Swifties are just excited to see her shine anywhere and everywhere. But do you think she has the chops to lead a gaggle of wannabe stars? Tell us below.
