That’s good news for fans who will get a whole additional season to say goodbye to their favorite characters. Awkward. is currently midway through Season 4.
The show stars Ashley Rickards, Beau Mirchoff, Molly Tarlov and Jillian Rose Reed. It has been praised for its frankness and real emotion. The characters deal with all the harsh realities of high school, including sex and drinking, all while going through the roller coaster of self-discovery.
5 Reasons Channing Tatum is MTV’s Trailblazer
Awkward. started as a story about Jenna Hamilton, who becomes popular at her high school after an accident is mistaken for a suicide attempt. Cue the self-discovery. Now, in its fourth season, the show will wrap up the current episodes with the Palos Hills High School crew on spring break, according to TV Line.
Awkward. won a People’s Choice Award for favorite TV cable comedy in 2013.
Though ratings and accolades have made Awkward. one of MTV‘s signature comedies, the story saw a shift in direction after Season 3 when creator Lauren Iungerich left the show. A lot of fans and critics are of the opinion that it’s a different show now that Iungerich is gone.
MTV gets Awkward.: SheKnows has the early premiere
No word yet where Season 5 will take Jenna, Matty, Tamara and the rest of the characters, but we do know it will see Jenna wrap up high school. It is also assumed the final season will be split into two parts, as was the case for Season 3 and Season 4. One thing we are also pretty sure you can count on: The final season will be full of Awkward. style.
New episodes of Awkward. air Tuesdays at 10/9c on MTV.
