7 Hilariously heartless tweets about the Robin Thicke-Paula Patton divorce

In a move nobody saw coming, except, well, everybody, Robin Thicke‘s estranged wife, Paula Patton, has officially filed for divorce.

Robin Thicke slurred through “Blurred Lines” lyrics on Vicodin

Patton was married to the “Blurred Lines” singer for nine years before filing for divorce this week in a Los Angeles court. She cited “irreconcilable differences,” which probably had a lot to do with his irreconcilable need to grope other women. Seemingly seeking to keep the split drama-free, however, Patton also asked the judge to grant joint custody of their 4-year-old son, Julian, E! News reports.

It’s been a long, slow road to the official divorce filing — Patton and Thicke separated eight months ago. Thicke famously tried to win her back with an album full of desperate pleas for reconciliation. The album, predictably titled Paula, flopped.

Still, they seem to be getting along OK. Just after their separation, the pair released a joint statement, saying, “We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”

The internet, on the other hand, was delighted to hear that their marriage has officially failed. Something about the combination of Thicke’s womanizing ways and his spectacular failed efforts to win Patton back made for a lot of excited tweets once news of the split hit the media.

While we’re sorry to hear that their marriage is officially over, we couldn’t help but find these tweets hilariously harsh.

@Eng_Matthew, who wanted to give his well wishes to the couple — or, at least, half of the couple.

@AGuyNamedNam, who won’t be recording an album to try to win back his girlfriend anytime soon.

@KaylinNeely, who is maybe not Robin Thicke’s No. 1 fan.

No, @IAmRonke, it looks like she wasn’t a fan of the album. In her defense, though, almost no one was.

Thicke did admit that he was “flying by the seat of (his) pants” with his attempts to win her back…

And @KallieCahill, who says exactly what’s on all our minds.
