On Thursday in the backyard of Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Brentwood, California, home, it was all about political fundraising — apart from the fact that the actress might have a crush on President Barack Obama.
Gwyneth Paltrow throws ultimate dinner party for Obama
The Iron Man actress hosted a reception and dinner benefiting the Democratic Party that marked the start of a three-day California fundraising trip for Obama.
The night did not come cheap either. Tickets to the reception at Paltrow’s home started at $1,000 while dinner tickets cost a minimum of $15,000.
Paltrow was overwhelmed by her star guest’s good looks. When it came to addressing her guests and President Obama, the Oscar-winning actress was completely tongue-tied.
“I am one of your biggest fans, if not the biggest, and have been since the inception of your campaign,” Paltrow told Obama, according to ABC news. She added that he was an “incredible role model.”
Gwyneth Paltrow vs. Martha Stewart is the ultimate WASP feud
Paltrow called for democratic support for the approaching Nov. 4 midterm elections, adding that, “It would be wonderful if we were able to give this man all of the power that he needs to pass the things that he needs to pass,” she said.
Then overcome with nerves she handed the microphone off to the president, but she couldn’t help remarking on his looks, saying, “You’re so handsome that I can’t speak properly.”
That’s pretty embarrassing! However, Obama was far more eloquent in his speech as he touched on a variety of topics, including Ebola.
“I want to assure everybody that the likelihood of an epidemic here in the United States is extraordinarily small, but there’s a humanitarian crisis that’s happening right now in West Africa where children not much older, and in some cases younger than Apple and Moses are dying on the streets alone,” he said.
7 Actors who left Hollywood for some peace and quiet
Actors Julia Roberts and Bradley Whitford were among those attending the fundraiser.
